African
Horizons begun operating safaris 10 years ago and was the first
budget operator to run safaris in Botswana
From humble
beginnings we have grown consistently and are now one of
Zambia's leading budget tour operators with 3 lodges, two safari
companies and multiple adventure activities in the falls area.
Community
Projects and staff empowerment.
African
Horizons is actively involved in staff empowerment. Many of our guests comment on the quality of our staff. They are
our greatest asset and many have worked for us in excess of 4
years with the longest serving 8. Our staff
turnover is very low and a family atmosphere has been created
that adds tremendously to Fawlty Towers reputation.
Land:
One of the most basic wants of the local people is to own land.
It gives stability to the family. A place to hand down through
the generations, nurture children, grow crops, run a business.
It provides security.
To this end in 2004 Timothy Phiri, our
longest serving employee became the first recipient of a plot of
land in Livingstone on which to build his house. In 2005 we
helped two more employees acquire land.
We are
actively engaged in Land procurement
for other staff and hopefully one day will have empowered all of
them with this fundamental
human requirement, a place to call home.

Community:
We are
involved in a number of community projects. Last year we raised
over US$2000 for a local school (Photo). We sponsor a local
youth football team, the police regatta team, local fund raising
events and an annual day out for orphaned children on World
tourism Day. We also sponsor Independence day celebrations.
